We LOVE to celebrate holidays at Fearless Mom! From Christmas – the obvious favorite – to April Fool’s Day, we take any opportunity to have fun with family. For the last few years, I’ve had the opportunity to preach at church on Mother’s Day. We have special photo ops and giveaways to celebrate moms. I just love seeing all the families together! And even though it’s a workday for me, Mac gets me flowers and a gift, and the kids treat me to a fast-food cheeseburger and fries for lunch. Sometimes we get crazy and eat fried chicken wings, too. Oh, how I love chicken wings and cheeseburgers! We call my mom and Mac’s mom to wish them a Happy Mother’s Day, then we enjoy the afternoon together as a family.

While I do love Mother’s Day, I recognize that this holiday isn’t a celebration for everyone. Actually, for various reasons, this holiday can be a pretty difficult day for some. There are those grieving the loss of their moms, as well as those who have strained relationships with their moms. I have friends who have lost children and others who are estranged from children. And this day can be especially sad for those who long to be, but aren’t yet, moms. In addition, so many single moms are wondering if they’ll be remembered this weekend.

So, if you’re a mom who’s being celebrated this Mother’s Day, enjoy your day! If you have a mom to celebrate, treat her to a facetime call and flowers. But remember to be sensitive to those in your circle and community who may be struggling. Reach out to them and let them know you’re thinking of them. A text, a phone call, a note in the mail – a simple reminder that they’re not alone and that they are loved and seen could mean so much.

And if you’re having a difficult time this weekend, you can know that we’re thinking of and praying for you. We pray you feel the immense love God has for you. You are not alone. We are with you and for you!

The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. Psalm 34:18

The faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease. Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning. Lamentations 3:22-23

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13
