Fearless Mom strives to equip you to embrace your responsibilities as a mom. We don’t want to add to your already crazy to-do list, we just want to help you be intentional with what you’re already doing.
This is the second installment in our blog series where we look at the lyrics from popular worship songs and hymns, filter them through scripture, and use them as encouragement as you embrace your responsibility as a mom. Here are the other blogs in this series, and here is our Fearless Mom playlist on Spotify to enjoy while you’re working out, waiting in the carpool line, or cooking dinner. And last but certainly not least, here is “Motherhood According to ‘Way Maker.’”
You are here, moving in our midst
I worship You
I worship You
You are here, working in this place
I worship You
I worship You
You are here, moving in our midst
I worship You
I worship You
You are here, working in this place
I worship You
I worship You
You are
Way Maker, Miracle Worker, Promise Keeper
Light in the Darkness, my God,
That is who You are
You are here, touching every heart
I worship You
I worship You
You are here, healing every heart
I worship You
I worship You
You are here, turning lives around
I worship You
I worship You
You are here, mending every heart
I worship You
I worship You
Even when I don’t see it, You’re working
Even when I don’t feel it, You’re working
You never stop, You never stop working
You never stop, You never stop working
This song is such a beautiful reminder of the constant and far-reaching power and compassion of God.
As you well know, motherhood is constant. We never stop working at our job as “mom.” Even when our kids are asleep, we are cleaning up from the day and preparing for the next. We don’t even get to go to the restroom alone (am I right, moms of toddlers!?). From the moment our children are placed in our charge, be it through birth, adoption, fostering, marriage, or guardianship; we are “mom.” That is exhausting and overwhelming, but we have GOOD NEWS.
Our God, our Creator, our Father, the Lover our souls; the Way Maker, Miracle Worker, Promise Keeper, Light in the darkness never stops working either. And He is with us and He is for us. He has gone ahead of us and is always right beside us. Even when we don’t see it, He’s working. Even when we don’t feel it, He’s working. And He will never stop working to help us be the best Mom that we can be!
God is a Way Maker. “And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.” Romans 8:28. You were called to be “mom” to your children. No matter the ages or stages, God is with you and He is for you. He will make a way forward for you and your children. You can raise strong, competent, independent adults!
God is a Miracle Worker. “Jesus looked at them intently and said, “Humanly speaking, it is impossible. But not with God. Everything is possible with God.” Mark 10:27. Our God created life, parted the Red Sea, healed the sick and the lame, fed thousands with a small lunch, and raised Jesus from the grave. THAT God, the very God that performs miracles, is working with you and for you. He is with your children; He is for your children. You can thrive in this season, Mom!
God is a Promise Keeper. “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11. Plug your name into that verse where it says “you.” Plug the name of your children into that verse. Take a moment to rest in the assurance that God has a plan, even when you don’t see it or understand it. And He is working all of the chaos, stress, laughter, exhaustion, teaching moments, and everything in between for GOOD.
God is a Light in the darkness. “Jesus spoke to the people once more and said, “I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life.” John 8:12 Darkness is an evitable part of life. Struggles, trials, and tribulations are part of life. But the God who separated the light from the dark is with you and for you. Seek His light when you are in the dark. Be a light and shine with Him and for Him.
Because of who God is, we can be confident in who we are as moms. You can do it, Mom!
